Marine fauna observations

BMT Oceanica can prepare Marine Fauna Management Plans to achieve specific project objectives, supported by marine fauna observers trained in visual survey techniques and species identification.

BMT Oceanica develops and implements marine fauna monitoring programs for projects that are subject to regulatory approval under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).  We have applied our skills to a variety of projects including ports, harbours, marinas and other coastal infrastructure during construction and operational phases.

BMT Oceanica can prepare Marine Fauna Management Plans to achieve specific project objectives, supported by marine fauna observers trained in visual survey techniques and species identification.  BMT Oceanica regularly provides external marine mammal observer training.

BMT Oceanica’s training course was developed based on a knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment.  All topics specified by the EPBC Act Policy Statement 2.1 (which relate to seismic activities) are covered and BMT Oceanica can tailor a training course to suit other marine activities such as dredging or pile driving.
